Fraternal Schism

The Susiverse was at peace and all was harmonious until the Fraternal Schism. Pronto Gumbo and Hambo Whambo disagreed on the future of the Susiverse. Gumbo wanted to create more worlds and give each Sus type the opportunity to thrive on its own, but Hambo wanted to keep one world to represent the diversity of Sus. Neither would have their minds changed.

Gumbo, bored of Bojang Crank, snuck off and created nine new worlds: the Terranon. It wasn’t until after the worlds were completed that Hambo discovered what Gumbo had done. They were partners—brothers—and Hambo felt betrayed at the deepest level. It was all he could think about and it filled him with rage.

In a blind fury, Hambo took hold of the greatest source of Ato majick on Bojang Crank: the Great Lettuce. He tore it from the earth and began to shape it into a weapon. He worked tirelessly, day in and out, fingers bloodied from his toil. Then, after five days and nights, his Leafy Death Spear was done.

Gumbo was unaware Hambo had learned of his deed and hoped it would remain secret and their friendship intact, but his brother knew. Hambo took aim with his spear and threw it with all his might. It pierced Gumbo through the heart, killing him instantly.

As soon as Hambo saw his brother’s lifeless body, he realized what he had just done. Hambo held his brother and wept bitterly. He wished he could take it back, but no amount of wishing would do. The Susiverse that Hambo loved died with his brother.

Hambo’s heart began writhing within him, contorting into a grotesque and twisted form. Hate was born of his pain, and his hate corrupted the very Sus of his being. At that moment, the chaotic antithesis to Sus manifested: Usu.

He was no longer a steward of creation. He was no longer a brother. He was no longer Hambo. He had changed into a monster: The Dank Lord Darknasty.

Darknasty set his sights on the Susiverse itself, to destroy all of existence and his pain with it. However, Old Gay Chutney would not allow it.

Chutney implored the Nine to lend him their strength to stop his suffering disciple. With the power of the Shish, Chutney fashioned a sword, shield, and armor for battle. This, however, weakened the Shish and made them vulnerable to attack. Darknasty, seeking to exploit their frail state, flew through the Rift intending to end it all.

Suddenly, Old Gay Chutney intervened. Chutney threw himself at The Dank Lord, grappling him. As the two wrestled through the Susiverse, Usu spread. Seeds of chaos fell upon Bojang Crank and all nine worlds of the Terranon.

Their battle raged on until Old Gay Chutney grappled Darknasty into submission. With the last of his strength, Chutney squeezed the life out of the Dank Lord and saved the Susiverse.

The three most powerful beings the Susiverse has ever known now float lifelessly through the Rift.

Over time, the seeds of chaos grow, and Usu with it. The very fabric of reality corrodes, disrupting order in the Susiverse as all of creation moves ever closer to a full-Susiverse Collapse. The Dank Lord sleeps, dreaming of the end, in wait for the day when Usu will fill his veins again.

Symbol for Usu

Usu is the chaotic anti-Sus. It was born in the heart of Double Hambo Whambo as he nurtured his hatred. Where Sus is the source of all life—sweet, tangy, and tomato; Usu is its opposite: the source of chaos—sharp, pungent, and garlic.

Darknasty wielding the Leafy Death Spear

Darknasty (he/him), formally addressed by the title of Dank Lord Darknasty, is the father of Usu. Before the Fraternal Schism, he was known as Double Hambo Whambo; and at the end of it, he was killed by his master, Old Gay Chutney. His lifeless body floats around the Rift with his late brother Gumbo and master Chutney.
